 Introducing  Unorthodox
Our  guild  was  founded  in  January  2007  as  a  number  of  end-game  raiders  in  classic  WoW  wanted  to  take  on  Burning  Crusade’s  challenges  at  the  helm  of  their  own  enterprise.  Our  Guild  Master  Xae  (also  known  as  Marielle)  was  one  of  the  founding  officers  and  formally  took  over  GM  responsibilities  in  August  2007.  Our  officers  are  Siobhann  (Recruitment),  Shawck  and  Rikki  (DKP  &  attendance)  and  Alidin  (Raid  Lead).  All  officers  have  significant  end-game  raiding  experience  including  end-game  in  vanilla  WoW  as  well  as  prior  MMOs.

We  are  a  PvE  end-game,  progression  guild.  We’re  not  “hard  core”  expecting  excessive  hours  of  raiding.  Instead  we  prefer  to  accomplish  as  much  as  we  can  within  the  set  raid  times  and  have  as  much  fun  as  possible  while  doing  it.  The  leadership  strives  to  provide  clear  communication  and  consistent  action,  as  well  as  show  commitment  to  those  who’ve  committed  themselves  to  the  guild.  As  such  many  of  our  raiders  are  coming  up  on  their  2nd  year  in  the  guild.  We  understand  the  stress  of  progression  raiding  and  the  frustrations  of  wiping  on  new  content  and  so  we  tolerate  no  drama.  We  are  able  to  have  a  tremendous  amount  of  fun  in  game,  in  guild  and  in  Vent  even  while  struggling  with  the  hardest  content  the  game  has  to  offer.

If  you  have  any  questions  please  feel  free  to  reach  out  to  any  officer  in-game  or  via  forums  PM.  For  questions  related  to  recruitment  please  contact  Siobhann  in  game  or  via  forums  PM.

 Why  you  should  join  Unorthodox
If  you  are  looking  for  a  progression  minded  guild  who  can  get  things  done  while  still  having  fun  doing  it,  then  Unorthodox  is  for  you.

What  it  takes  to  become  a  member  in  Unorthodox
 1) Play  your  class  well
 2) Play  well  with  others
 3) Show  dedication  to  the  guild

It’s  that  simple.  For  more  information  please  contact  Marielle  or  another  officer.

 Read  This  Before  Applying
Read  this  post  first  and  in  its  entirety.  If  you  can’t  be  bothered  to  read  this  post  then  please  don’t  bother  to  apply.

  • Initiates  are  expected  to  make  75%  of  raids  during  their  initiate  period.  We  raid  Monday,  Tuesday,  Wednesday,  Thursday  from  7PM  to  10PM  Server  (CST).  It’s  not  a  big  commitment  to  make  3  hours  a  night  4  days  a  week.  We  understand  there  are  unforeseen  circumstances,  which  is  why  we  only  expect  75%  minimum  raid  attendance.

  • If  you  get  wait  listed  for  a  raid  and  stay  online  during  the  entire  raid  time,  please  note  it  does  count  as  your  attendance.

  • In  fact,  during  your  initiate  period  you  will  get  wait-listed  for  raids;  expect  this  when  you  first  join.  If  you  are  bothered  by  being  on  the  wait-list  then  please  don’t  apply.  We  know  you  really  want  to  join  us  in  raid  and  prove  your  mettle;  you  will  get  your  chance  so  in  the  meantime  just  be  patient.  If  however  your  ego  can’t  handle  getting  wait-listed  then  please  don’t  apply.  We  run  a  tight  ship  and  a  small  guild  so  there  are  not  many  people  wait  listed,  but  enough  that  we  have  a  padding  should  unforeseen  circumstances  take  a  toll  on  attendance.  You  will  appreciate  this  when  you're  a  member  and  you  do  get  into  90%  of  raids.  This  also  helps  separate  the  drama  mammas  from  the  team  players.

  • Take  your  time  and  put  some  thought  into  your  application.  The  vast  majority  of  the  guild  reads  these  applications  and  it  will  be  their  first  impression  of  you.  Humor  in  writing  if  not  done  well  comes  across  as  obtuse,  and  sarcasm  is  often  misinterpreted  as  rudeness  or  elitism.  Also  if  you  can’t  be  bothered  with  proper  spelling  and  grammar  then  your  first  impression  will  be  that  of  a  dribbling  general  forums  lolwut  idiot.  Be  mindful  and  put  some  thought  into  your  application.

  • If  a  current  member  asks  a  question  on  your  application  thread  please  answer  it  and  answer  it  honestly.  Our  members  have  a  say  in  who  gets  gets  guilded  so  show  them  the  respect  they  deserve.

  • To  indicate  you’ve  read  this  section  please  ask  what  is  Marielle’s  favorite  type  of  gnome  on  your  application.

  • If  you're  under  18,  it's  advisable  you're  a  rockstar  of  a  player.  We're  sure  your  mom  &  friends  think  you're  great,  and  you  think  you've  got  all  the  time  in  the  world  but  soon  you’ll  discover  girls  (or  boys)  or  at  some  point  you’ll  discover  how  you’re  not  really  in  control  of  your  own  schedule  and  real  life  will  interfere  with  your  commitment  to  Unorthodox.

  • Once  you’ve  completed  and  posted  your  application  the  next  step  is  to  …  wait.  If  someone  does  not  reach  out  to  you  in-game  or  respond  to  your  application  a  day  after  you  posted,  it  is  because  we  are  discussing  it  internally  and  will  get  back  to  you  within  2-3  days.  Despite  you  being  the  amazing  player  that  you  are,  the  guild  does  not  come  to  a  grinding  halt  because  you  applied.  Typically  we’ve  found  the  people  who  are  impatient  and  demand  a  response  within  a  few  hours  of  posting  an  application  don't  last  here  in  our  team  focused  environment.  Ask  yourself,  do  you  just  want  to  be  a  part  of  any  guild  or  do  you  want  to  be  a  part  of  Unorthodox.  We  will  respond  to  you  and  within  a  2-3  days  at  most.

Please  be  sure  you  meet  the  following  requirements.

  • Level  80

  • Knowledgeable  in  your  class  /  role.

  • Geared  to  a  sufficient  level  to  handle  our  current  progression  -  this  can  include  Emblem,  Crafted  or  PvP  gear  to  be  on  par  with  currently  raided  content.

  • Raiding  Spec  -  this  will  be  evaluated  on  a  person-to-person  class  basis.   If  you  have  certain,  non-raid  specific  talents,  you  may  be  asked  why  your  talents  trees  are  set  that  way;  many  classes  have  multiple  specs  and  paths  open  to  them  and  while  one  may  not  benefit  one  person,  used  correctly  it  can  benefit  another.   We,  as  a  guild,  are  looking  to  maximize  raid  efficiency.   We  understand  that  people  often  spec  differently  to  PvP,  farm  or  just  to  try  something  new  and  often  times  your  WoW  Armory  spec  may  not  reflect  your  raiding  spec;  if  your  Armory  reflects  a  different  spec,  please  provide  a  link  to  a  WoWHead  or  WoW  crafted  tree  on  your  application  -  or  you  may  be  asked  to  create  one.

 The  Application

Copy  the  application  below,  create  a  new  topic  using  your  Name,  Class  and  Level  as  subject  line,  paste  the  application  into  the  message  body  and  reply  to  all  the  questions.   Your  application  must  be  complete  before  you  are  considered  for  an  interview  /  initiate  period.   Also,  keep  in  mind,  it’s  the  first  thing  we  typically  see  of  a  recruit,  make  a  good  first  impression!

**  Please  note,  you  may  also  silently  apply  by  copy  and  pasting  the  below  into  a  private  message  and  sending  it  to  the  user  "Marielle".   This  is  only  to  be  done  if  you  are  uncomfortable  posting  an  application  publicly.  **
